Art House 2.0 is an award-winning, new construction, modern passive solar house nestled into a wooded property in Westchester. Carol Kurth, FAIA, ASID, one of the most renowned architects in Westchester County, NY, designed the home as the backdrop for a stunning modern art and mid-century modern furniture collection.
Carol designed the one-level home as an open, airy, gallery-like home that frames views to the natural woodland setting. She incorporated indigenous ashlar, fieldstone, and cedar siding to juxtapose the home’s rectilinear forms and glass expanses. She designed horizontal overhangs to take advantage of natural daylight to illuminate the interiors.
The home has Geothermal energy systems that respond to the environment with Nest technology. Carol also designed sculptural niches to focus the views and to further the inside/outside gallery environment.
